In the centre of Stockholm, along the lakeside walk of Norr Mälarstrand, you’ll find Mälarpaviljongen – an idyllic, flourishing oasis extending a rainbow-coloured welcome to everybody.

Here, you can enjoy the summer sun – or, should it be a rainy day, just enjoy the atmosphere in the pavillion or under the awnings, with our food, wines, beer, drinks, coffee, sandwiches, pastries and desserts. Mälarpaviljongen is a unique meeting place with an international touch in summertime Stockholm. We’re open from the beginning of April until the end of September. In 2013, Condé Nast Traveller selected Mälarpaviljongen as one of the top restaurants in the category “Best Neighbourhood Restaurants in the World”.

Mälarpaviljongen is beautifully situated in a landscape park designed by city architect Erik Glemme and landscape architect Holger Blom. The café and the pavillion were built as early as in 1943, but since then Mälarpaviljongen has expanded with three flower decorated floating docks on the Lake Mälaren water. Our famous garden is designed as different green rooms, with a selection of plants that follow the seasons – from the tulips of spring to the vibrant colours of late summer.

On weekdays we serve lunch from 11 am to 3 pm. On evenings and weekends we serve a variety of dishes, a mix of the modern international cuisine and traditional Swedish food. At Mälarpaviljongen we think it’s important to think about sustainability, so we work with organic and fair-trade products.

During the season we offer an exciting choice of entertainment and summer clubs, extending from our annual hat parade in May, to Sunday jazz sessions, shows with well-known artists, modern dance, klezmer nights, dragshows and DJ’s.

Since 2013, Mälarpaviljongen has had its own garden and design shop by the water, which has become very popular. In the shop you’ll find plants and flowers according to season, plus interior design items for your balcony, summer house or home.

Mälarpaviljongen also organizes charity work together with Regnbågsfonden which was founded in 2013 in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights all over the world. This year we’re launching our own rosé wine label, and for every sold bottle we donate a part to the fund. In 2013, the sum of 430 000 kronor was collected for the gay and lesbian rights movement in Uganda.

At Mälarpaviljongen you’ll experience a tolerant and welcoming atmosphere for each and everyone. It’s a unique spot in the centre of Stockholm where you can enjoy Lake Mälaren’s water and our flourishing garden. Just relax with family and friends and watch boats sail by on the glittering water, with Stockholm city as a backdrop. If you arrive by boat you can moor to our sun deck. Mälarpaviljongen is all about that holiday feeling.

We look forward to seeing you this summer. We hope that you’ll come and experience our unique spot and meet our friendly staff. We’re sorry that we’re unable to take table bookings, but with our 700 seats there is usually room.

Anders and Arto and their staff from all over the world want to give you a hearty welcome!
